William "Bill" H. Wolters, Jr.

William H. "Bill" Wolters, Jr., 89, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday October 14, 2015 at Country Care Nursing Center, Easton, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, October 19, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Benedict's Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited on Sunday, October 18th at 4:00 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 5:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Parish, Mount St. Scholastica or Benedictine College and may be left in care of the funeral home. Bill was born April 6, 1926 in Atchison, Kansas the son of William H. and Catherine Duncan Wolters, Sr. He attended St. Benedict's Elementary School, graduated from Maur Hill Prep School then attended and graduated from St. Benedict's College (now Benedictine College) with a degree in accounting.

He and Edna Mae Morley were united in marriage on June 10, 1950 at St. Benedict's Church.

Bill served for thirty years with the Lincoln Grain Elevator Company in Atchison as a grain accountant until his retirement. Following retirement he kept very active with mowing and tending to numerous lawns even until his mid-eighties.

He was enlisted with the United States Navy on July 26, 1944 until his honorable discharge on May 26, 1945.

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish, Sacred Heart Council #723 of the Knights of Columbus, served as a Eucharistic minister, church usher and participated as an adorer in the adoration chapel. He was also a member of Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of sixty five years, Edna Mae Wolters of the couple's home, daughter, Stephanie (Max Fleming) Wolters, Addison, TX, two brothers, John (Terry) Wolters, Omaha, NE, Mike (Connie) Wolters, Parkville, MO, sisters, Margaret Mary Johannes, Gladstone, MO, Gere Greene, Salina, KS, Catherine(Jim) Lahey, Colorado Springs, CO, Theresa (Ray) Miller, Atchison, KS, Sr. Dorothy Wolters, OSB, Atchison, KS.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Francis Wolters, Tom Wolters and Phil Wolters.
