William "Bill" E. Sinclair

September 19, 1934 — January 20, 2014

William Eli (Bill) Sinclair, 79, Effingham, Kansas passed away at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kansas Monday, January 20, 2014.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Hansen officiating. Interment will follow in Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, January 23rd from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Carol Baptist Church or the Monrovia Cemetery Association and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Bill was born September 19, 1934 in Effingham, Kansas the son of James M.and Vera Niemann Sinclair. Bill graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1952.

He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1957 until 1959.

He married Violet Arlene Steuart in 1962 at Carol Baptist Church in Atchison by Rev. L.A. Inglecoffer.

Bill worked at Parnel Elevator, Locomotive Finished Materials Company and was a dairy farmer most of his life.

He was a member of the Dairy board for approximately thirty years, a member of the Monrovia Cemetery Board serving since 1966 until his death, was a member and sponsor of the Atchison County 4-H. He was a member of the Effingham Methodist Church but attended Carol Baptist Church in Atchison. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Sinclair of the home; four sons, Duane Sinclair, Everest, KS, Tim (Cathy) Sinclair, Smithville, MO, Michael (Lori) Sinclair, Atchison, KS, Raymond (Jean) Sinclair, Wakarusa, KS, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two sisters, Lois Bryant and Mary Frakes of Kansas City, MO.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Sinclair, a granddaughter and two great grandsons.
