Virginia L. McMaster, 85, Kearney, Missouri formerly of Atchison, Kansas died peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2017 with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Braden officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, June 25th from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Westbrook Care Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Virginia was born October 14, 1931 in Atchison County, Kansas the daughter of George B. and Annabelle Seewester Burge. She attended elementary school at Trinity Lutheran School in Atchison, Kansas. She then attended Atchison High School.
She and Richard Glenn McMaster were united in marriage on February 16, 1957 in Atchison, Kansas. Mr. McMaster preceded her in death on August 4, 1987.
Virginia worked for a glove factory and soda fountain both in Leavenworth, Kansas and later for several years at the former Randall's Steak House on the north shore of Sugar Lake, Missouri prior to her marriage when she became a homemaker and later a stay at home Mom and homemaker.
Virginia was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the KU Basketball team. She also loved playing cards with family and in later life going for drives with Neil Diamond serenading her in the car.
Virginia is survived by a son, Richard L. McMaster and his wife Cecelia, Trimble, MO; a daughter, Lonnie K. Karasek and her husband Richard, Sherwood, AR; a daughter-in-law Dyann McMaster, Jacksonville, AR; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Rodney McMaster; brothers, Thomas Burge, Richard Burge, Clarence Burge, sisters, Edna Sutlief, Hazel Chandlee, Mildred Hall, Ruth Burge, Evelyn Burge and another sibling in infancy.
