Steven Shipman

Steven Shipman, who most knew by and called "Shippy" of Atchison, Kansas, died December 23, 2023, at Amberwell Atchison.

He was born August 31, 1965, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Thomas Gregory Shipman and Kay Fowler Domann.  He graduated from Atchison County Community High School before attending Highland Community College and Emporia State University.

Shippy owned and operated a construction company and later ran the Milk House Bar. He never met a stranger.  He had a wonderful way of making friends and welcoming them into his life.  He also enjoyed golfing, home renovations, and working on his classic cars, but what he found most rewarding was spending time with friends and family. Shippy made countless memories with his stepbrothers and stepsisters, David Domann and his wife Libby, Patricia Domann, Joseph Domann and his wife Sherry, Sarah Ryan and her husband Jeff, Grace Burchett and her husband Les, BJ Domann and his wife Maria, Todd Welch and Shelly Maxwell and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Shippy will be remembered by his father, Thomas Shipman and stepmother, Jeanne of Topeka, KS; his mother, Kay Domann, Lawrence, KS; brothers, Mike Domann and Jon Shipman and his wife, Sheryl, and one niece, Sydney Shipman. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bernard Domann.

His life will be celebrated and remembered with a visitation on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the Atchison YMCA or the Atchison County Community Schools Education Foundation (ACCSEF) in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom cremation care has been entrusted.
