Shirley K. Godfrey, 67, Atchison, Kansas, died Monday, February 10, 2014, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, with Jimmy Dolinski, officiating. A visitation with the family will be Friday, February 14 from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Shirley was born June 4, 1946 in Leavenworth, Kansas the daughter of Gerald and Helen Wiseman Domann. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Mount St. Scholastica Academy in Atchison, Kansas. She then attended the St. Joseph Beauty School in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She and Ronald R. Godfrey were united in marriage on August 8, 1964 at St. Joseph's Church, Atchison.
A homemaker, Shirley stayed at home assisting her husband and raising her children. In her free time she enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers, gardening and most of all watching her grandchildren's sporting events and school activities, and her love of dancing. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of forty nine years, Ronald R. Godfrey of the couples home in Atchison, a daughter, Leslie Ann Bennett and fiancée Dean Christie, Troy, KS, three sons, Michael (Kellie) Godfrey, Winston Salem, NC, Brian (Pamela) Godfrey, St. Joseph, MO, Jeff (Terri) Godfrey, Denton, KS, four sisters, Mary Ann Knecht, Olathe, KS, Virginia Koosier, Mesa, AZ, Joyce Newton, Iatan, MO, Stephanie Bernard, Tulsa, OK four brothers, Gary Domann, Kansas City, MO, Keith Domann, Leavenworth, KS, Max Domann, Kansas City, MO, Darrell Domann, Kansas City, MO, twelve grandchildren, Rachelle, Katie, Matthew, Katie, Brycen, Talissa, Jacob, Miranda, Cody, Kaylee, Kori, Lacey and two great grandchildren, Ayden and Liam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Helen Domann and a brother in infancy, Dale E. Domann.
