Ruthanna Keimig

Ruthanna Keimig, age 96, of Atchison, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a rosary to follow at 10:30 a.m. before mass. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Louis Church or the Medicalodge Activity Fund and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Ruthanna was born May 19, 1929, the daughter of Julius and Helena M. (Watowa) Handke. She attended Irish Point School.

On November 23, 1949, she and Louis William Keimig were married by Fr. Cosmos Schneider at St. Louis Church and they made their home on a farm north of Atchison their entire married life.

Ruthanna was a member of St. Louis Church and was active in the church Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and doing crossword puzzles. She loved music, playing the piano and in her younger years she liked to dance. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren and spending time making memories with them.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Judy) Keimig, Kansas City, MO, Donald (Rita) Keimig, Atchison, KS, a sister, Leona Busenbarrick, Atchison, KS, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on October 15, 1983, and three brothers, Donald Handke, Eugene Handke and Leo Handke.
