Robert Ross, 75, Atchison, Kansas, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at his residence in the end stage of Parkinson's and was a patient of Amberwell Hospice.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Kelley, officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to Second Christian Church and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
Robert was born March 9, 1946, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of John Sr. and Jessie Ashford Ross. He attended high school in Atchison, Kansa and then went on to attend community college in California.
He and Margaret were united in marriage on March 31, 1994, in Atchison, Kansas.
Robert served in the United States Army from September 20, 1965 until his honorable discharge in September 1971.
Robert was a member at Second Christian Church. His ministry was that of help, working in areas of the church that had a need. He received a NAACP award and received an honor certificate from Juneteenth. He was also a member of the disabled veterans.
Robert was a wonderful husband and stepfather to four children whom he raised from childhood to adults; and his stepchildren remained at his side while sick in bed.
Survivors include 4 sons, Joe Ross, Kansas City, MO; David Brittian, Davenport, IA; Soloman Brittian, Atchison, KS; Webley Brittian, Atchison, KS; two daughters, Jessica Ross, Los Angeles, CA; Janeeka Brittian, Atchison, KS; three brothers, John Ross, Jr., Atchison, KS; Donnie (Katy) Ross, Blue Springs, MO, Dennis (Denise) Ross, Hobbs, NM; four sisters, Alma Ross, Blue Springs, MO; Edna (Bud) Thorton, Casper, WY; Clementine Ross, Casper, WY; LaShell (Harold) Gentry, Fresno, TX; and numerous grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Ross; siblings, Hester George, Charles Ross, Pete Ross, Harrison Ross, L.C. Ross, and Mattie Walker.
