Richard W. Thomas

Richard W. Thomas, age 65, of Atchison, KS, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Rick believed in Our Good Lord whole heartedly and believed that as a family anything was possible to get through because of God.

Rick was born on April 5, 1959, at Pepperrell Air Force Base in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada, the son of Gary Thomas and Donna (Myers). He married Debra Felts on March 28, 1987, at the Carol Baptist Church in Atchison. They shared over forty-seven years of marriage and have two sons, Dylan Thomas (Penny) and Dalton Thomas, both of Atchison. One of the best parts of his life was when his two grandsons joined the family, Landyn Thomas and Carsyn Thomas. He is also survived by his mother, Donna Drimmel; three sisters, Pam Reno, Liz Billings and Lori Kearney; stepbrothers, Scott (Suzie) Drimmel, Daniel (Susie) Drimmel; stepsisters, Amelia (Clarence) Cluck, Andrea (Den) Hiner; numerous nieces and nephews and the family dog, Duke.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Thomas and stepfather, Larry Drimmel.

Rick worked in heavy equipment construction through the Local Union 101 for most of his working career until 1997. He owned Thomas Glazing for a few years before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, spending all his time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting and was an avid KC Chiefs and KC Royals fan. He will be missed by so many.

Rick's life will be celebrated on Monday evening, June 17, 2024, with a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at a later date by his family and friends. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
