Richard Blair "Bud" Morley

Richard B. "Bud" Morley, 76, Kansas City, Missouri died unexpectedly Friday, February 1, 2013 at North Kansas City Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Church, Kansas City, Missouri with Rev. Justin Hoye as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 5th at 6:00 P.M. at St. Patrick's Church with visitation to follow at the church until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Pius X High School or Maur Hill Mount Academy or St. Benedict's Abbey and may be sent in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, 208 N. 5th Street, Atchison, Kansas with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.

Bud was born July 31, 1936 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Dr. A.R. and Mardell Patterson Morley. He attended St. Benedict's Elementary School, graduated from Maur Hill Prep School, Atchison, Ks., then attended and graduated from Avila College, Kansas City, MO.

He and Marian M. "Mickey" Van Dyke were united in marriage on May 15, 1965 at Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, KS.

Bud was employed for over thirty years as the central relocation director for the city of Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement. He then served for the Liberty Housing Authority, Liberty, Missouri for the next ten years.

He was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church, Kansas City, where he served as an usher. He also co-chaired the formation of the St. Patrick's School Board and later served on the school board of St. Pius X. He was a member of Council # 7064 of the Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree of Knights of Columbus.

Bud was a licensed pilot and enjoyed spending time flying and assisted in the direction of his children's flying lessons by the flight instructor. He was a coach of numerous sports teams for his children and later a spectator for sporting events of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mickey Morley, of the couples home, three sons, Rick (Judith) Morley, Kansas City, MO, Roger (Tracy) Morley, Leawood, KS, Ray (Connie) Morley, Columbia, MO, a daughter, Mary Kate (Darin) Cerven, Northboro, IA, two brothers, Pat (Millie) Morley, Atchison, KS, Bill Morley, Wichita, KS and six grandchildren, Lauren, Jake, Liam, Kyle, McLain, and Finn.
