Ralph M. "Mike" Black, 67, Atchison, Kansas died Monday, August 3, 2015 at Atchison Medicalodge following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Graveside services and burial will be Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, August 6th from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison Relay For Life and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Ralph Michael Black was born October 17, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of John and Regina Barry Black. He attended Central Elementary School, Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School.
He and Gloria Prill were united in marriage on November 16, 1972 at Sacred Heart Church in Atchison. Mrs. Black preceded him in death on November 20, 2014.
Mike began working for Rockwell International Corporation then with Atchison Casting Corporation retiring from Bradken Company in 2009. He worked all of his adult life as a steel worker.
Mike was a member of St. Benedict Parish. In his spare time he and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping extensively throughout the United States.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Barry M. and Lisa Black, Pecos, TX, a sister, Lou Roberts, special friends, Kate and Rick Jones, Atchison, KS and four grandchildren, Emma Black, Johnathan Black, Kristina Black and Olivia Black all of Pecos, TX.
