Patrick E. Schneider, 84, Atchison, Kansas died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Atchison Senior Village Nursing Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Gabriel Landis, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 9:00 A.M., with a rosary to be recited just prior to the funeral mass at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph's Church and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
Patrick was born March 9, 1928, in Beattie, Kansas, the son of Joe C. and Vida (Gold) Hatten Schneider. He attended Hatten and Prairie Center Schools.
He and the former Rose I. Koelzer were united in marriage on September 2, 1947, in Beattie, Kansas. Mrs. Schneider preceded him in death on June 16, 2012.
Mr. Schneider was engaged in farming all of his life. He was an excellent carpenter, and used his carpentry skills on numerous projects including constructing items for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping and traveling in the mountains.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Twombly, Hiawatha, KS, Patricia (Bill) Moore, Topeka, KS, three sons, Gene (Gloria) Schneider, Leavenworth, KS, Francis (Jane) Schneider, Atchison, KS, Tony Schneider, Atchison, KS, a brother, Barney Schneider, Beattie, KS, two sisters, Wilma Mason, Seneca, KS, Shirley McGenny, Kansas City, KS, a sister-in-law, Rita Schneider, Beattie KS, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Rex Schneider, Mike Schneider, Dick Schneider, two sisters, Helen Vondemkamp and Mary Goodrich.
