Patricia L. Gonzales

Patricia L. (Pat) Gonzales, 75, Atchison, Kansas died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 14th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Richard Rocha officiating. The body will be cremated following the services with private inurnment at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph, Missouri. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 13th at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation with the family to follow until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mexican Sisters; Benedictine Sisters; or St. Benedict's Abbey and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Pat was born April 12, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of Denis J. and Arrilla Dally Downey. She attended Co-Cathedral Catholic School and Lafayette High School in St. Joseph.

She and Gumesendo (Gummie) Gonzales were united in marriage on July 21, 1947 a Co-Cathedral Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. Gonzales survives of the home in Atchison, Kansas.

Pat had formerly worked for the Chase Candy Company, St. Joseph, Missouri and she dedicated herself as a housewife and mother until her children were grown. She later was employed with the Walton Used Furniture Store in Atchison, Kansas.

She was a member of the Catholic Faith. She and her husband were avid collectors of antiques and spent numerous hours refinishing pieces of furniture for themselves and others. She enjoyed traveling which included visiting forty-eight of the fifty United States as well as Canada and old Mexico.

In addition to her husband survivors include one daughter, Angelina T. (Angie) Gomez, Atchison, KS; one son, Mariano D. (Marty) Gonzales, Atchison, KS and four grandchildren, Mariano Gomez; Marcelo Gomez; Natalie Gonzales and Nicholas Gonzales.
