Nancy Lou McCoy, 70, Atchison, Kansas died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Hansen officiating. Interment will follow at Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, August 24th from 4:00 until 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Nancy was born August 5, 1944 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin the daughter of Lloyd John and Bertha Batterson McCartney. She moved with her family to Atchison and attended Atchison Public Elementary School and Atchison High School.
Nancy and Frank A. Underwood were united in marriage in 1961 in Atchison, Kansas, Mr. Underwood preceded her in death. She and James V. Stalder, Sr., were united in marriage in the 1980's in Atchison, Mr. Stalder preceded her in death. In 1993 she and Rick McCoy were united in marriage in Atchison, Mr. McCoy preceded her in death.
Nancy worked at the former Jerry's Restaurant in Atchison later served as a certified nurse aide at the Dooley Center and then worked at the "Y Café". She then became employed with Walmart of Atchison in the bakery department where she served the last eight years until her health failed.
She was a member of the Baptist faith. In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and paint by number.
Survivors include two sons, John L. Underwood, Atchison, KS, Frank E. Underwood, Kansas City, KS, two daughters, Kathleen Pennington, Liberty, MO, Patricia Wolters, Burlington, KS, a sister, Towanda "Juanita" Goodpasture, Atchison, KS, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on the way, and two Son-In-Laws, Michael Pennington and Michael Knight
Preceding her in death were two grandsons, Nickolas Lee Underwood, Dustin Kyle Underwood, a sister, Helen Schooler, two brothers, Lloyd John McCartney, Jr., Robert McCartney and her parents.
