Michael S. Oswalt, 60, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Medicalodge of Atchison.
No services or visitation are planned. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, Missouri. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison Medicalodge or St. Croix Hospice and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
Michael was born May 6, 1957 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Emmett K. and Mary Patricia "Tish" McKee Oswalt. He attended St. Benedict's Elementary School and was a graduate of Maur Hill Prep School in 1975.
Michael worked as a skilled brick layer his entire adult life in the Atchison, Kansas, St. Joseph, Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri and surrounding areas.
Michael is survived by a son, Matthew Wayne Oswalt, Effingham, KS; a step son, Tobin Ford, Effingham, KS; a step-daughter, Elizabeth (James) Vieyre, Hutchinson, KS; six brothers, David Oswalt, Leavenworth, KS; Kelly Oswalt, Kansas City, MO; Jerome Oswalt, Atchison, KS; Owen Oswalt, Atchison, KS; Brian Oswalt, Atchison, KS; Chris Oswalt, Platte City, MO; four sisters, Diane Perkins, Atchison, KS; Patty Blevins, Highland, KS; Marcia Collins, Leavenworth, KS; and Amy Peters, Leavenworth, KS, and his caregivers Jay (Sidwell) Jones, Atchison, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Tish Oswalt.
