Michael Church, who was affectionately known to so many as Mike, Mikey, Churchy, Chapel and Uncle Mike, passed unexpectedly on November 16, 2025, at his home in Atchison, KS, at the age of 64.

A Celebration of Mike’s life for friends and family will be on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the lower level of the Elk’s Lodge from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. Memorials may be left to Maur Hill – Mt. Academy or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Private family burial will be at the Trinity Episcopal Church Garden. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Mike was born the son of Lawrence A. “Larry” Church and Mary M. “Maggie” (Wolters) Church on September 24, 1961, which just so happened to also be his father’s birthday. He is a graduate of Maur Hill Prep and earned an engineering degree from DeVry University.

Mike began his employment with Lam Research Corporation and traveled the world working on computer software’s. He was currently working as a Senior Field Representative for Schneider Electric.

Mike lived life to the fullest, attending countless concerts, was a great cook and loved to BBQ. He most recently could be found relaxing at his favorite spot down by the dam, fishing and hanging out with friends. He loved his family and was a huge Chiefs, KU and Royals fan.

He is survived by his mother, Maggie Church; three sisters, Debbie O’Leary, Karen Reiss and Jill Church and her husband Alberto Medrano; his nieces and nephews, Jason Story, John Story, Bailey Medrano, Maya Medrano, Jennifer Butterwick, Erika Walljasper and Matthew Reiss; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Church.
