Mary Patricia "Tish" Oswalt

Patricia "Tish" Oswalt, 86, Atchison, Kansas died at Atchison Senior Village in Atchison, Kansas.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, April 23, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Benedict's Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 22nd at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison Senior Village Nursing Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Tish as she was known by her family and friends was born August 28, 1925 in Falls City, Nebraska the daughter of Charles Raymond and Catherine Knowles McKee. She attended St. Benedict's Elementary School graduating from Mt. Saint Scholastica Academy. She then went on to receive her Certificate of Registration of State Certificates and State Teachers College Diplomas.
She and Emmett (Bud) Oswalt were united in marriage on November 21, 1953 at Holy Name Church, Topeka, Kansas.
Tish served as an elementary school teacher in Potter, Wakeeney and Collier, Kansas. She later became employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. As her family grew she chose to remain at her home and put her emphasis on her husband, children and family as a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Church and the Altar Society of the church.
Tish is survived by her husband Emmett K. Oswalt, Atchison, Kansas, four daughters, Diane (Mike) Perkins, Atchison, Ks, Patty (Jim) Blevins, Highland, KS, Marcia (Steve) Collins, Leavenworth, KS, Amy (Mark) Peters, Leavenworth, KS, seven sons, Michael (Lori) Oswalt, Atchison, KS, David Oswalt, Leavenworth, KS, Kelly (Beth) Oswalt, St. Joseph, MO, Jerry Oswalt, Dearborn, MO, Owen Oswalt, Atchison, KS, Brian (Amy) Oswalt, Atchison, KS, Chris (Shelley) Oswalt, Platte City, MO, a sister, Carol Ann Miller, Maysville, MO, thirty three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerome Oswalt.
