Mary Kathleen Brumbaugh, 74 years old, of Atchison, Kansas, formerly of Topeka, Kansas passed away August 17, 2017.
Memorial services will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, Sept. 2nd, from 9:30 AM until time of the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Calvary Cemetery Endowment or the St. Mary's Cemetery Association, Valley Falls, KS and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Kay was born on December 20, 1942 on a farm southwest of Valley Falls, Kansas the daughter of Vincent A. and Leona C. (Stallbaumer) Nolte. She attended catholic grade schools and graduated from Nortonville High School.
She and David T. Lemke were married in May of 1962 and later divorced. She married Vern Ed Brumbaugh in November of 1976. Mr. Brumbaugh preceded her in death in 2010.
Kay was most recently employed as a clerk for the Kansas Medical Clinic in the billing department for ten years before her retirement in 2012. Kay was employed in medical offices working as a medical billing clerk and bedside for 35 years.
Kay moved to Atchison in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed her time with them and never missed a school function or birthday. She was a fan of AHS Adrenaline Show choir and loved to watch her grandchildren perform.
Kay volunteered for Find A Grave, an online website for genealogy, uploading countless pictures of headstones and burial locations that people utilize world-wide. She had a passion for her family genealogy and researched and authored numerous family genealogy books. She was an avid sports fan and was a long time fan of the Kansas City Royals.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth M. Stone (Shelman), Atchison, KS, four sons, William E. Lemke (Jen), Ft. Scott, KS, Joseph M. Lemke (Robin), Overbrook, KS, Richard G. Lemke (Brenda), Parkville, MO, Gregory D. Lemke (Julie Ann), Overland Park, KS, four sisters, Joan Hornbeak, Kansas City, KS, Alice Brentano, Overland Park, Cleta Nolte, Atchison, KS, KS, Joyce Koch, Atchison, KS, one brother, Robert Nolte, Atchison, KS, and seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Grace Brentano and Rita Nolte.
