Marteel "Marty" G. Shumaker

Marteel G. "Marty" Shumaker, 85, Atchison, Kansas died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at her residence.

Per the wishes of Marty her body has been cremated with memorial services to be held in the yard of her home at 19704 266 ^th Rd. on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be at a later date at Sumner Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the DARE program and maybe left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Marty was born January 7, 1934 in St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of George W. and Vera Pearl Cohoon Allen. She attended Hosea School and Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She and Robert D. Shumaker were united in marriage on March 15, 1952 at Wyatt Park Christian Church in St. Joseph. She also attended the St. Joseph Beauty University.

Marty was a homemaker and owned and operated her own farm where she resided. She also did upholstering and furniture refinishing for many residents.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Megan Shumaker and Marissa Tolar and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Robert W. and Michael Shumaker, four sisters Velma Miller, Thelma Owens, Doris Wren, and Dorothy Graffeo.
