Lyllis Ann Ling passed away August 23, 2018 at Dooley Center, Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas surrounded by many loving nuns.
Lyllis was born in Liberal, Kansas to Laurence Arthur Ling and Harria Walker. Lyllis attended McKinley Grade School and Liberal High School. Upon graduating she attended Mount St. Scholastica College where she obtained a degree in Chemistry.
Upon graduating she worked at AT&T. After a couple of years she joined the papal volunteers in Mexico where she taught English. She spent some time in Washington DC working for the Federal Government. She came back to Kansas and attended K-State University and obtained a masters degree in nutrition. She worked at Children's Mercy Hospital as chief nutritionist for many years. Lyllis belonged to The Grail in Loveland Ohio, a community dedicated to peace and justice. She was an active member in Heart of America Call To Action in Kansas City. She belonged to the oblates of Mount St. Scholastica. She traveled extensively.
Lyllis was involved in a terrible car accident in 1980 losing both of her legs. She was an inspiration to many as she lived her life in complete acceptance.
Lyllis was an active member of Redemptorist Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a brother Larry Ling. She is survived by a nephew John Ling, a niece Enya and many cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mount St. Scholastica, 801 So. 8 th Street Atchison, KS. 66002, Friday, August 31 st at 10:30. Visitation will begin at 9:30 with a Rosary. In lieu of flowers Lyllis suggested memorial contributions to Mount St. Scholastica. Burial will be in Jetmore,Kansas September 1, 2018. Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
