Lucille Helena Haupt, 97, Atchison, Kansas died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at St. John's Hospital, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Louis Church Cemetery at Good Intent. A parish rosary will be recited on Monday, March 4th at 6:30 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Church or Mass Intentions and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Lucille was born December 12, 1915 in Denton, Kansas the daughter of Bernard "Ben" and Julia Horsch Halling. She received her education at Mt. Vernon School near Denton, Kansas.
She and Joseph J. Haupt were united in marriage on February 5, 1940 at St. Benedict's Church, Bendena, Kansas. She and her husband formerly lived in the Good Intent Community west of Atchison and were members of St. Louis Church until moving to the city of Atchison. Mr. Haupt preceded her in death on July 2, 1969.
Lucille was employed for ten years as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. A. R. Morley and later worked for Stein Laboratories and then became a clerk with Runyan Jewelers until her retirement in 1971.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar Society and served for many years as sacristan, eucharistic minister and lector.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith A. (Jim) Haupt Schneider, Atchison, KS, a son, Lawrence P. "Larry" (Anna Marie) Haupt, Atchison, KS, four sisters, Addie Walters, Gravois Mills, MO, Annie Cipriano, Yorktown, VA, Betty Johnson, Atchison, KS, Julie Ann Elias, NC, two brothers, John Halling, Denton, KS, Robert "Bob" Halling, Atchison, KS, ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph B. Haupt, a sister, Irene Halling, four brothers, Peter Halling, Bernard Halling, Luke Halling, and Joseph Patrick Halling.
