Linda J. Rivers, 62, Enid, Oklahoma, formerly of Atchison, Kansas, died, Monday, September 16, 2013, in Enid.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, September 23, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, Kansas with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7:30 P.M. Memorials are suggested to Relay for Life or The American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.
Linda was born November 4, 1950 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Raymond and Mary Ellen Regan Matthews. She was a graduate The Academy of Mount St. Scholastica School in Atchison, KS in 1968.
She and Carmen Wayne Rivers were united in marriage on November 8, 1969, in Atchison, Kansas. Mr. Rivers preceded her in death on February 15, 2005.
Linda was a store worker at the Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK retiring in May of 2013. Her main focus in life was caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Jodi Wall and husband David of Midwest City OK, Jeff Rivers of Atchison, KS, Jason Rivers and his wife Chrystal of Waukomis, OK and Jeremy Rivers of Enid, OK, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way, two sisters, Donna Willming of Atchison, KS and Patricia Arensberg of Overland Park, KS, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Linda was also preceded in death by parents, a son, Jonathon and two brothers, Raymond E Matthews and David L Matthews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dexeus, and his staff and the staff of Ross Home Health Care and Hospice for the wonderful care their mother received.
