Lawrence "Larry" E. Hart, Jr.

Lawrence E. "Larry" Hart, Jr., 61, of Atchison, Kansas, died unexpectedly Sunday, February 18, 2018.

A parish rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict's Church with Mass of Christian burial to immediately follow the rosary. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Luncheon and visitation will follow the burial at the Elk's Lodge, 609 Kansas Ave.- Main Floor (entrance off of the alley) for all family and friends of Larry. Memorial contributions are suggested to Maur Hill-Mount Academy and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom final care has been entrusted. Larry was an organ donor and was able to continue to do good for others, even after his death.

Larry was born on November 7, 1956 to Lawrence and Jean (Pinderski) Hart in San Diego, California. The family moved to Atchison in 1965. Larry went to St. Benedict's Grade School and graduated from Maur Hill Prep in 1974. He attended college at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

In 1976, he began his employment with the Kansas State Department of Transportation as an Engineer Tech until 1986. He then began employment with Atchison Home Health Equipment, working his way up to General Manager in 1988, and becoming a part owner of the business in 1997; he continued working there until his death.

Larry was a forty year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, he also had been a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Larry was a kind and giving man who worked hard and played hard. He was half Irish and half polish; he always had a joke to tell and a whole lot of blarney along the way. He loved spending time with family and friends and lived his life on his terms.

Larry and Jane (Ramsey) were married on April 12, 1980, she survives of the home. He has a daughter Tara of Lenexa, KS, and a son Tim (Ally) of Bennington, KS. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa (Dan) Lohman, Kansas City, MO, a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Ramsey, Atchison, KS, brother-in-law, Bill (Jan) Lancaster, Amarillo, TX. His paternal aunt, Ellen (Hart) Cermak, Oklahoma City, OK, maternal aunt, Lillian (Pinderski) Jackowiak, Chicago, IL, nephews Ryan and Sean Lohman, Kansas City, MO, Drew (Kay) Feek, Atchison, KS, Richard (Sara) Lancaster, Amarillo, TX, Brian (Jen) Lancaster, Gainesville, FL, nieces Ericka Lohman, Kansas City, MO, Katlyn (John) Danher, Chicago, IL, Morgan Hull and Evie Ramsey, both of Atchison, KS. Great niece and nephew twins, Marleigh and Everett, Gainesville, FL. Larry has numerous cousins all over the United States; family was so important to him and he loved them with all of his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Jean (Pinderski) Hart, his paternal and maternal grandparents, both paternal and maternal aunts and uncles, a cousin, Bob Nicoletti, his mother-in-law, Ruth (Rindom) Ramsey, and brothers-in-law, Richard and Glenn Ramsey.

He will be missed by his loyal dog Barley and his beloved cat Bella, they followed him everywhere.
