Laurence B. Thompson, Sr., 74, Atchison, Kansas, passed away, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 7, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, with Pastor Stephen Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 7 th from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Faith Bible Fellowship Church and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Laurence was born November 29, 1943 to Robert Laurence and Evelyn Powers Thompson. He graduated from Maur Hill Prep School and Vo-tech.

He married Lois May Goodpasture on January 28, 1963. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2006.

He was a truck driver most of his life, until he retired to care for his wife. Larry was a one of a kind man and had a heart of gold. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas Jayhawks. He was a Charter Member at Faith Bible Fellowship and Sunday School Superintendent.

He is survived by his two sons, Laurence B. (Michelle) Thompson Jr. and Tyler Thompson Sr. (Lindsey Wildhagen), four daughters, Laura (David) Behler, Leona Motsinger, Tiffany Hysten, and Brooke Thompson (fiancé Richard Parmenter). Fourteen grandchildren: Jessica Motsinger, Tobin (Rosella) Thompson, Nicholas Motsinger, Talan Hysten, Brennan Thompson, Adrianne Thompson, Kaelor Hysten, Mayci Parmenter, Tyler Thompson Jr, Jayzeon Hysten, Ryder Thompson, Rowan Parmenter, Lincoln Thompson, Sarah Schuller, Three Great grandchildren, Owen Thompson, Camlynne Boyle, and Lainey Thompson. Three sisters: Connie Earl, Lynne (Don) Ball, and Ruby Phillips. A brother Wayne (Christi) Thompson, and a step sister Tracey (Brad) Shumaker and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Robert Loyd Thompson.
