Laura G. Cushinberry, 72, Atchison, Kansas died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 7, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. at the Atchison United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Laura was born June 1, 1940, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Matthew and Gladys Allen Downing. She attended Lincoln School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1958.
She and Ivan L. Cushinberry, Sr. were united in marriage on September 14, 1958, in Atchison, Kansas. Mr. Cushinberry preceded her in death on July 8, 1993.
Laura was employed by Achievement Services in Atchison and served as a Residential Supervisor for 12 years.
She was a member of the Cornerstone Seventh Day Adventist.
Survivors include a son Ivan L."Kookie" Cushinberry, Jr., Atchison, KS, a daughter, Alta I. Cushinberry, Atchison, KS, two sisters, Donna D. Smith, Atchison, KS, Mary Jane Jackson, Casper, WY, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers, Clifford Downing, Jesse Downing, Matthew Downing, Jr., John Downing, George Downing, Kenneth Downing, Richard Downing, Carl Downing, Sr., Leonard Downing, and a sister, Margaret Downing.
