Mr. John G. Nass, 82, Atchison, Kansas died early Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Benedict's Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with United States Army Honors. A parish wake service will be Friday, June 29th at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Benedictine Sisters, St. Benedict's Abbey or Maur Hill –Mount Academy and may be left in care of the funeral home.

John was born September 26, 1929 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Herman and Theresa Vandeloo Nass. He attended St. Joseph's Elementary School and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School.

He and the former Mary Ann Tabor were united in marriage on April 11, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church.

John served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge and returned to Atchison. He was employed with Lockwood Company as a printer from 1953 until his retirement in 1990.

John was a member of St. Benedict's Church, Knights of Columbus Council #723, Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion and a past member of Pineview Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and the time he and his wife spent traveling. John also served as a coach for many of his children's sporting teams in their youth.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Nass, of the home, three daughters, Theresa Nass, Frisco, TX, Janie Edwards, Parkville, MO, Peggy (Matt) Frihart, Frisco, TX, three sons Timothy Nass, Overland Park, KS, Michael (Susan) Nass, Clive, IA, Daniel Nass, Phoenix, AZ and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Shultz, a half-sister, Hazel Murray, two brothers, Lawrence Nass and Thomas Nass, a son-in-law, Bruce Edwards.
