James Lee Betts, 64, Huron, Kansas died at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
Graveside services and burial will be held on August 25, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Old Huron Cemetery. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
James was born April 3, 1947 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Charles and Helen Pickerell Betts. He attended St. Benedict's Elementary School and Atchison High School.
He was employed with Ford Tractor of St. Joseph, Missouri for over 8 years then as a truck driver with Midwest Grain Products Company of Atchison, Kansas for 14 years. In 1995 he became an independent truck driver until his retirement.
He and Patricia Ramos were united in marriage May 18, 1989 in Huron, Kansas.
He was a member of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers and being outdoors and watching the history channel.
Survivors include his wife Patricia "Pat" Betts of the couples home in Huron, KS, three daughters, Ricki Harvey, Atchison, KS, Amy Betts, Kansas City and Laura, a step-daughter, Sonya Pruett, Atchison, KS, two sons, Jimmie Betts, Huron, KS, Jamie Basore, Ottawa, KS, four sisters, Peggy Emery, Atchison, KS, Sally Brady, Atchison, KS, Judy Hayes, Topeka, KS, Rita Reiff, Atchison, KS, a brother, Robert Betts, Granite City, IL, ten grandchildren and one great grandson.
James was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Juanita Betts, Lisa Piper and four brothers, Walter Betts, Lloyd Betts, Bill Betts, and Mike Betts.
