Jacqueline R. "Jackie" Weatherford, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in Doniphan Cemetery, Doniphan, KS. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, January 19th from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Doniphan Cemetery, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home. Jackie was born July 12, 1958, in St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of Lyle Eugene and LuEtta Mae Spencer Petersen. She attended schools at Doniphan, Kansas, and Troy, Kansas, graduating from Troy High School. She then attended and graduated from Northeast Kansas Technical School, Atchison, Kansas.
She and Dirk E. Weatherford were united in marriage on November 14, 1992, at the First Christian Church.
Jackie was formerly employed with the Atchison Globe until she co-founded and co-operated Aunt Pearl's Attic store on the mall in Atchison. After the closing of the store, she was co-owner of Dance With Me, Dance Studio also on the mall.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Atchison, Kansas.
Jackie was a person of many interest and talents. She not only was a successful homemaker and businesswoman, but also managed and enjoyed farming and owned and managed several rental properties. She and Dirk also were involved as foster parents for many years.
Jackie is survived by her husband of twenty one years, Dirk E. Weatherford, of the couples home, four daughters, Desiree' Nicole Weatherford, Atchison, KS, Jessica Lynn Weatherford, Hiawatha, KS, Tiffany Kay Weatherford, Atchison, KS, Selina Jeane Weatherford, Atchison, KS, a son, Jeffrey Taylor Weatherford, Atchison, KS, two nieces, Ashley Christine Burton, Atchison, KS, Jessica Renee Burton, Atchison, KS, a sister, Brenda Kay Petersen, Atchison, KS, a brother, John Morgan Burton, Atchison, KS, a grandson, Quentin James Robinson, Hiawatha, KS, and foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and LuEtta Petersen and an uncle Russell Spencer.
