Imogene was born July 24, 1924 in Atchison, KS at the Haegelin family home, the youngest of 13 children of Mary Ganter and August H. Haegelin. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School graduating from Mount St. Scholastica Academy in Atchison KS. She served as editor of the in-house publication for LFM/Rockwell Industries after receiving a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from St. Mary College, now University of St. Mary, Leavenworth, Kansas. After her children entered school, she pursued a career with Burke Marketing Research.
Imogene married Joseph V. "Joe" McAuliffe of Kansas City on October 1, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, Kansas. Together they enjoyed many family gatherings. Her faith and family meant the world to her. She lovingly served as caregiver for Joe during his extended illness until his death in 2008. A lifetime highlight for Imogene was a trip to Italy with Jennie, her sister, and to Ireland with her husband, the entire McAuliffe clan, and the Kansas City Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
She is survived by her three daughters, Mary M. McAuliffe, of the home, Ann McAuliffe (Michael J.) Martin, Stamford, CT, Kristen (Ken) McAuliffe Kerwin, Kansas City, MO, brother-in-law William R. (Dorothy) McAuliffe of Kansas City, MO and sister-in-law Mildred McAuliffe, Overland Park, KS and 4 grandchildren: Lara and Daniel Kerwin, and Sean and Brendan Martin. Many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.
Imogene was also preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters and a granddaughter, Regina Elizabeth Martin.
