Helena M. Giles, 74, Atchison, Kansas died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Atchison Medicalodge Nursing Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, May 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Gabriel Landis, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Purcell, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at the church with visitation to follow until time of funeral mass. Memorial contributions are suggested to defray funeral expenses and may be left in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.
Helena was born December 8, 1937 in Huron, Kansas the daughter of Charles R. and Helena J. Schmitz Wohletz. She attended elementary school at St. Mary's at Purcell and Huron, Kansas, graduating from Mt. Saint Scholastica Academy.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Atchison, Kansas and the altar society of the church. She was also a life member of V.F. W. Post #1175 Auxiliary, Atchison Hospital Auxiliary and served as a volunteer for the Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Helena is survived by a daughter, Deborah Sauer, Madison, WI, two sons, Charles Giles, Wichita, KS, Timothy Giles, Madison, WI, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Armontrout and two sisters.
