Hazel R. Neuforth, 89, Atchison, Kansas died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Atchison Senior Village Nursing Center.
A celebration of Life and remembrance service will be Friday, November 23, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to Atchison Humane Society for the spay and neuter program.
Hazel was born December 29, 1922 in Seneca, Kansas the daughter of Emil and Hallie Rowe Overmiller. She attended the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York and New England Conservatory, Boston, Massachusetts, receiving her bachelor's degree in music.
She and L. Dean Neuforth were united in marriage and Mr. Neuforth preceded her in death on January 8, 1999.
Hazel and her husband owned and operated Neuforth Studio in Atchison, Kansas, for many years until their retirement and Hazel also offered music lessons to numerous students both her in Atchison and formerly in Owensboro, Kentucky.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Miriam and her husband, Dr. H. Willie Chu, Whispering Pines, NC, a son Eric L. and his wife Sherryl Neuforth, Plattsburg, MO, a sister, Janice Elliott, Atchison, KS, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
