Atchison

Glenn H. Hattan, 81, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, August 1, 2018, with his loving family at his side.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Horton, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited on Friday, August 3 rd at 7:00 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation with the family to follow until 8:30 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Parish or Northeast Kansas Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Glenn was born August 3, 1936 in Effingham, Kansas the son of Charles and Ellen Miles Hattan.  He attended an elementary rural one room schoolhouse and graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham.

Glenn and Marilyn Siebenmorgan were united in marriage on July 14, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atchison.

He served with the United States Army from July 7, 1959 until his honorable discharge on June 26, 1961 as a combat engineer in Germany.

Glenn then became employed with the Richardson's Mobil Service Station as a mechanic and gas station attendant and later for Baker's Service Station for a total of fifty two years.

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish where for all of his married life he faithfully attended Sacred Heart Church. He and his wife served for several years as Sacristans of Sacred Heart Church and as janitors. Glenn was a former member of Fleming-Jackson-Seever post #6 of the American Legion in Atchison and then as a member of Post #58 in Topeka, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Marilyn of the couple's home in Atchison; two daughters, Glenda (Ed) LaBarbera, Lakin, KS; Mary Lynn (John) Monson, Atchison, KS; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Jessica, Mario, Lisa, Alyssa; and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, John LaBarbera and Beth Monson; a brother, Louis Hattan and three sisters, Betty Lou Hattan; Wilma Hattan and Helena Hattan.
