Gladys M. Bonnel, 88, Rushville, Missouri died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Atchison Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, with Rev. Terry Wolfe, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, December 16th from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
She was born August 31, 1924, in Dearborn, MO, the daughter of Elmer Day and Annabell Bays Stalder. She attended schools in New Market and Weston, MO.
She and Bob Bonnel, Sr. were united in marriage on August 7, 1965, in Leavenworth, Kansas.
During her lifetime she held numerous jobs with the most recent being Domanns Drug Store and Wal-Mart as a greeter. She spent most of her years as a homemaker.
She loved playing BINGO, going on shopping trips, and doing needlepoint. She adored her garden and loved cooking from scratch.
Besides her husband she is also survived by four daughters, Patricia (Jim) Blacketer, Kathryn Bonnel, Melinda (Richard) Underwood, all of Atchison, KS, and Lisa (Troy) Bridger, St. Joseph, MO, three sons, Joseph (Susan) McCoole, Jr., Osawatomie, KS, Bobbie O. Bonnel, Jr. Atchison, KS, and Michael Bonnel, Spring, TX, a brother, Junior (Roxie) Stalder, Atchison, KS, 29 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, LeaAnna McCoole and Nancy Christeson, two sisters Anna Felts and infant Stalder, and two brothers, William Stalder and Franklin Stalder.
