Gerald "Jerry" Francis Gray

Jerry Gray, 82, Atchison, Kansas died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Louis Church at Good Intent. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Church Cemetery. A parish wake service will be Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation with the family to follow until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Louis Church or the St. Louis Church Cemetery and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Jerry was born February 21, 1931 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Thomas W. and Grace Hund Gray. He attended school in Effingham, Kansas graduating from Atchison County Community High School in 1949.

He and Beverly J. Riggle were united in marriage on November 17, 1959 at St. Louis Church at Good Intent, Atchison, Kansas. Mrs. Gray preceded him in death on September17, 2010.

Jerry was a farmer his entire adult life, also engaging in raising cattle for many years in the Good Intent Community west of Atchison.

He was a member of St. Louis Church at Good Intent and the Knights of Columbus Council #723 of Atchison. His enjoyments and passion were planting items in the family yard such as shrubbery and flowers, working with livestock, playing cards with family and friends and spending time with his family and neighbors in the Good Intent Community.

Survivors include his son Tim (Sherry) Gray, Lancaster, KS, three grandchildren, Gerald, Angela and Tara, one great granddaughter and a brother, Thomas Gray, Atchison, KS.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Gray, a sister, Helen Corpstein, two brothers, Robert J. Gray, Edward E. Gray and two infant siblings.
