Georgia M. Dewey, 94, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Atchison Medicalodge Nursing Center.
Funeral Services will be Friday, June 14, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison with Pastor, Kenneth Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will precede services for one hour at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Life Assembly of God Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Georgia was born July 7, 1918, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of John J. and Mary F. Wiscarson Bigenwalt. She lived in Atchison all of her life attending school in the Branchton area, Franklin School and Atchison High School.
She and Galen N. "Pete" Shifflett were united in marriage on May 16, 1939, he preceded her in death on August 5, 1962. She and Lee Dewey were united in marriage on December 15, 1965, Mr. Dewey preceded her in death on April 4, 1987.
Georgia was a homemaker. She was a devout member of her church, New Life Assembly of God and she shared her belief in God with everyone she met. Her home was open to all her friends and family. She was a former member of Bethel Tabernacle and former Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include numerous great and great-great-great nieces and nephews as well as many longtime friends.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Lois Bigenwalt, Violet Messa, Frances Ebbrecht, Berneice Hayes, Fern Jenkins, and brothers, Joe Vincent Bigenwalt and John Jacob Bigenwalt.
