Elizabeth H. "Beth" Brentano, 94, Atchison, Kansas died Thursday February 20, 2014 at Vintage Park Assisted Living, Atchison.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Benedict's Cemetery, Bendena, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday, February 23 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Parish or Maur Hill-Mount Academy and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Beth was born November 6, 1919 in Leavenworth, Kansas the daughter of Raymond A. and Genevieve Matzeder Lyons. She graduated from St. Joseph's Elementary School and Mount St. Scholastica Academy. She then attended Atchison Business College.
She and Bernard H. Brentano were united in marriage on January 22, 1941 at St. Benedict's Church, Atchison, Kansas. Bernard preceded her in death on July 10, 1987.
A wife, mother and homemaker, Beth's life work was raising and educating her ten children and providing a nurturing home.
She was a member of St. Benedict Parish attending St. Joseph's Church and a member of the St. Joseph's Church Altar Society. She was also a member and volunteer for the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her ten children, Jim (Grace) Brentano, Atchison, KS, Sharon Leonard, Kansas City, MO, Barb (Ken) Lane, Independence, MO, Tom (Judy) Brentano, Sandy, UT, Mike (fiancée, Ann) Brentano, Overland Park, KS, Steve (Alice) Brentano, Overland Park, KS, Dave (Jackie) Brentano, Kansas City, MO, Mary Beth (Terry) Griffin, Atchison, KS, Susie (David) Castino, Santa Rosa, CA, Mark (Kris) Brentano, Lenexa, KS, two sisters, Margaret Pusch, Shawnee, KS, Nadine Monroe, Olathe, KS, twenty four grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bernard Brentano, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Raymond Lyons, Jr., and a sister, Patricia Maybrier.
