Edna M. Pruett Hosford, 93, Olathe, Kansas died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.
Memorial graveside services and inurnment will be Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Final care has been provided by Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas.
Edna was born June 14, 1924 in Atchison, Kansas the daughter of William H. and Elsie Louise Meyer Pruett. She attended Harmony Gardens Grade School and graduated from Atchison High School.
She and Junior Dale Hosford were united in marriage on December 20, 1941 in Platte City, Missouri.
Edna and her husband owned and operated several restaurants over the years including the A&W Restaurant in Newton, Kansas for over twenty-five years. At one time they operated two Buzz-Inn Restaurants individually, one in Garden City, Kansas and one in Newton, Kansas.
Over the years Edna especially enjoyed raising and loving her Pug dogs.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Hosford, Olathe, KS; two sons, John (Connie) Hosford, Newton, KS; Mark (Natalie) Hosford, Lawrence, KS; two daughters, Pamela (Tom) Hill, Lenexa, KS; Kathryn (Ed) Lee, Salina, KS; a sister, Thelma Darnell, Olathe, KS; nine grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsie Pruett; five brothers, Wilmer H. Pruett, Jr.; Lawrence Pruett; Glen Pruett; James Pruett; Thomas Pruett; six sisters, Margaret Blackwell; Emma White; Barbara Pruett; Loretta Plaisted; Esther Gillespe; Leona Scholz.
