Donna D. Smith, 83, Atchison, Kansas died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Atchison Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Atchison United Methodist Church with Pastor Gabe Taylor, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The casket will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. where friends may gather. There will be no scheduled visitation. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cornerstone Seventh Day Adventist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Donna was born August 17, 1930 in Atchison, Kansas the daughter of Matthew and Gladys Allen Downing. She attended Lincoln School graduating from Atchison High School.
She and William Jack Smith, Sr. were united in marriage in Atchison, Kansas.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Jean Smith, Atchison, KS, Coleen Elizabeth (Wade) Saunders, Leavenworth, KS, Regina Lynn Smith, Atchison, KS, two sons, Kenneth (Rosemary) Smith, Atchison, KS, Richard (LaRita) Smith, Atchison, KS, nineteen grandchildren and forty-three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jack Smith, Sr., a son, Jack Smith, Jr., her parents and three sisters, Mary Jane Jackson, Laura Cushinberry, Margaret Downing, nine brothers, Clifford Downing, Sr., Matthew Downing, Jr., Jesse Downing, Sr., John Downing, Sr., George Downing, Richard Downing, Carl Downing, Kenneth Downing and Leonard Downing.
