Derrick Dion Taylor was born February 3, 1966 in Leavenworth, Kansas to the union of Donald and Barbara Taylor.

Services will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Noon at Seventh Day Adventist Conference Youth Center, 3321 Garfield Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas has been entrusted with the final arrangements.

Dion was a member of the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church since birth. He served in many capacities as the Head Elder, Elder, Head Deacon, Deacon, Pathfinder Leader, Head Usher, Children's Ministry Leader, Sound Technician, Choir member, Sabbath School teacher, played on the church basketball and volleyball teams, etc. He was such a great studier of the Bible that whenever he stood before you to preach, teach or just a casual conversation, you were going to learn something new or get a deeper understanding of God's Word.

Dion attended Third Avenue Elementary School, Nettie Hartnett Grade School, East Junior High School and graduated from the Leavenworth High School in 1984. From there he went on to attend Oakwood University (known at that time as Oakwood College) in Huntsville, AL, where he was able to truly enjoy his love for music. He was a part of the Oakwood College Choir, Le' Group, Unity and many others. At the age of thirteen, Dion along with three other young men began the Chosen Four. This past October the Chosen Four celebrated 36 years. He also sung with the Gospel Tones of Harmony II.

Dion worked for the Department of Defense for more than 23 years between Fort Myer, Virginia and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Dion enjoyed life. He loved spending time with family, studying the Bible and history, listening to various old gospel groups, riding his three-wheeler, "Thor" and watching basketball and football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. GO Chiefs!!! He was a loyal friend.

Dion went to rest on December 10, 2014 of natural causes. His father Donald H. Taylor, Sr. has preceded him in death.
