Derek M. Kuhnert, 25, Atchison, Kansas died as the result of an automobile accident in rural Buchanan County Missouri.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, Feb. 22nd from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kuhnert Children's Education Fund or the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Derek was born June 2, 1986 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Floyd Kuhnert and Pamela (Pam) Brox Kuhnert. He attended Atchison Catholic Elementary School and Midway High School.
He and the former Julie Artman were united in marriage on January 28, 2005 in Atchison, Kansas. Mrs. Kuhnert survives of the couples home in Atchison.
Derek was employed as a truck driver with the Tom Stirton Trucking Company of Horton, Kansas.
He was baptized a raised in the catholic faith.
Additional survivors include a son, Caden Kuhnert, Atchison, KS, a daughter, Rylee Kuhnert, Atchison, KS, two step-daughters, Adrianna Hundley, Atchison, KS, Kylia Hundley, Atchison, KS, a brother, Dustin Kuhnert, Atchison, KS, his mother, Pam Kuhnert, Atchison, KS, his father and step-mother, Floyd and Melody Kuhnert, St. Joseph, MO, maternal grandfather, Terry Brox, Atchison, KS, paternal grandfather, Louis Kuhnert, Atchison, KS, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, JoAnn Brox, paternal grandmother, Norma Kuhnert and two nephews, Braeden Alexander and Travis Levi Clary.
