David L. McDevitt, 69, Rushville, Missouri died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at his home in Rushville.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas with Chaplain Dave Ernst officiating. Inurnment will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, Missouri with a luncheon to follow at the Sugar Creek Ladies Aide Hall. Visitation with the family will be Monday, November 26th from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society.

David was born September 13, 1943 in Dekalb, Missouri the son of John Henry and Alice Catherine Eirls McDevitt. He attended school in Dekalb, graduating from Dekalb High School.

He and the former Bonnie Johnson were united in marriage on July 5, 1961 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mrs. McDevitt preceded him in death on July 24, 2004.

David was employed with Nestle Purina Company as a process operator for twenty six years until his retirement.

Mr. McDevitt is survived by five daughters, Missy (Keith) Canfield, St. Joseph, MO, Kimberly McDevitt, Rushville, MO, Kirbi (Ted) Cline, Weston, MO, Kerri (Tony) Fuemmeler, Rushville, Mo, Kristina (Darrin) Woods, Rushville, Mo, a son, Nicky (Patricia) McDevitt, Rushville, MO, two sisters, Patty Turpin, Rushville, MO, Sharon Bettingfield, Las Vegas, NV, two brothers, John H. McDevitt, Bella Vista, Ark, Ellis N. McDevitt, Atchison, KS, fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Eugene Thorne, a sister, Phyllis Helmick and two brothers, Kenneth Dale McDevitt and Daniel D. McDevitt.
