Daniel L. Wagner, 87, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, February 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Danny's life will be celebrated Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Church with a visitation to begin at 10:00 am and a rosary at 10:45 am. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Benedictine College to be designated to scholarships and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. The family encourages friends to join them and wear their favorite sports attire to the services.

Daniel was born August 23, 1937, in Pawnee City, Nebraska the oldest of twelve children of Fred and Eleanor (Ullman) Wagner.  He attended Steinauer Elementary School graduating from Lewiston High School. He enlisted in the Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Carson until his honorable discharge.

He and Bonnie J. Dougherty were united in marriage on July 8, 1967, in Steinauer, Nebraska.  Mrs. Wagner preceded him in death on October 30, 2014. He is also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Keith Wagner; and sister, Betty Hubka.

Danny enjoyed farming with his family in Nebraska and worked with the soil conservation district. He relocated to Atchison and met numerous people and made countless friendships, which led him to his fifty-year career of Print Shop Manager at Benedictine College until retiring in 2020. He enjoyed photography, he was a master carpenter and one of the best gardeners around. He could grow pretty much anything! He loved sharing his produce and canning for his family. Danny was a huge Nebraska fan and enjoyed anything college athletics and the Olympic games. He played numerous sports well into his 60s, including volleyball, basketball, tennis and bowling.

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish and a member of Sacred Heart Council #723 of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a son, Christopher (Christina) Wagner; a daughter, Daneen (Jeremy) Vaughan; two brothers, Bob Wagner, Patrick Wagner; seven sisters, Nora Kathe, Nancy Hilt, Marilyn Buhman, Dorothy Brandt, Peggy Barrett, Mary Wagner, Kathy Wagner; five grandchildren, Zachary Wagner, Kelsey (Mike) Hughes, Micah Wagner, Daniel Wagner, Rebekah Wagner; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He and Bonnie took in a foster Yorkie, and she became the spoiled rotten pup, "Baby", who resides with Chris' family.
