Daniel Lee "Dan" Potts, 61, Lancaster, Kansas died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, March 28, from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Lancaster Township Volunteer Fire Department or Trinity Lutheran Church and may be left in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.
Dan was born March 5, 1951 in Horton, Kansas, the son of Theodore Franklin and Ruth Lyle Potts. He attended Atchison County Community High School, graduating in 1969.
He was the owner and operator of Potts Backhoe and Trenching, an excavation company for 35 years. Dan also prepared the opening and closing of grave spaces for numerous cemeteries during the years of his business operation.
Dan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed people and taking the time to visit with them and being a part of the fellowship of the group. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting and especially gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Adam R (Amy) Potts, Lancaster, KS, Lyle F. (Sara) Potts, Lancaster, KS, his mother, Ruth Potts, Lancaster, KS, a brother, Jim Potts, Effingham, KS, and two grandchildren, Carter Owen Potts and Addison Layne Potts.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Dave Potts.
