Daniel Lawrence Kentzler, age 67, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on September 5, 2026, at his home, peacefully surrounded by the love of his wife and children. He was born on June 20, 1959, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of the late Charles Henry Kentzler and Imogene Helen (Weber) Kentzler.

Dan was a graduate of Maur Hill Prep and furthered his education at NEK Vo-Tech. He began his career at Gerber Electric in Atchison before embarking on a career that extended 35 years with USD 409 as a Maintenance Electrician. In that work, he served in numerous roles and worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly. He was known as a fixer of all things, someone who always seemed to have the right answer and the right solution. Endlessly curious and intelligent, he could fix what was broken or build something new with skill and confidence.

Above all, Dan will be remembered for the steady and capable way he moved through life and for the love he shared with his family. His presence brought reassurance to those around him, and his practical wisdom and caring nature will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Kentzler; his son, Matthew (Laura) Kentzler; and his daughter, Christina Kentzler. He is also survived by his brothers, David (Beverly) Kentzler, Mark (Mandy) Kentzler, and Mike (Stacey) Kentzler. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Parish Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. Benedict Church, followed by visitation with the family from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church. Dan will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and a lunch will follow at St. Joseph Church lower level for those able to share that time with the family. Memorials may be left to St. Benedict Parish or Maur Hill-Mt. Academy Donate to MH-MA Online. Funeral care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. 

Dan’s life was marked by hard work, intelligence, and devotion to those he loved. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew him. The family wishes to share their gratitude with Amberwell Hospice for their caring service.
