Curtis G. Keith, age 60, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2026. He did everything in his power to fight recent health issues and has now earned his peace.
He was born in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Eleanor (Seeger) Keith. Curtis began his education at St. Joseph’s Grade School, graduated from Maur Hill Prep in the class of 1983, earned his bachelor’s degree in business from KU, his BBA in marketing and economics from the University of Texas at Arlington, and completed his education with a master’s degree in accounting and finance from Southern Methodist University.
Like so many kids from Atchison, Curtis worked at Arensberg’s IGA during high school. He joined Sallie Mae during his college years and continued with them after graduation, relocating to Chicago and Texas. He eventually moved back to the Kansas City area and served in numerous roles, including Regional Sales Representative for Fidelity Investments, Investment Representative for H&R Block, Manager at Barrett & Associates, and Accountant for Bantis Resources LLC, Cohen-Esrey, and United Country Real Estate. He rounded out his career most recently as the CFO for Platinum Realty. He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus, both in Lenexa.
Curtis was known for his witty humor, his genuine kindness, and a work ethic that inspired everyone around him. Even though he was very private, he could also be known as a social butterfly—especially when it came to traveling, golf, the Jayhawks, and the Chiefs. He loved attending football games, golfing with his buddies, and spending time at Gert’s, Tanner’s, and various hangouts with his friends. He enjoyed traveling and checking everything off his bucket list. He will always be remembered for the joy he brought to his friends and family.
He cherished his family and is survived by his siblings, Fran Keith, Bobbi (Terry) Demmon, Mike Keith, and Sue (Jody) Burton; his sister‑in‑law, Susie Keith; his eleven nieces and nephews; and numerous great‑nieces and great‑nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard “Dickie” Keith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS 66215. A Celebration of Life will begin following the mass at 11:30 a.m. at the Church Social Hall. Cremation care provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
