Clara Ruth Chase

Clara R. Chase, 86, Wathena, Kansas formerly of Atchison, Kansas died at the Wathena Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in Doniphan Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, March 18th from 12:30 until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Clara was born April 8, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of George and Nellie North Meidinger. She moved with her family as a child to Doniphan, Kansas where she attended Doniphan Elementary School and Doniphan High School.
She and Floyd Chase were united in marriage on September 19, 1942 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. Chase preceded her in death in 2001.
Clara was employed as an aide for the Atchison Hospital and also worked for Saunders Manufacturing Company of Atchison. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and was an avid seamstress.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the church quilting group. She formerly served as a Leader of the Doniphan Star 4-H Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Stone, Kansas City, MO, Joan Dove, Topeka, KS, three sons, Billy Lee Chase, St. Joseph, MO, George F. Chase, Beattie, KS, Gary D. Chase, Laurie, MO, a sister, Maryann, two half-sisters, Mary Alice and Joann, two half-brothers, Dean and Walter, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Mallos and a brother, Charles Blockburger.
