Carrie E. "Billie" Hood, 99, Atchison, Kansas, died unexpectedly at her daughter's home on Friday, December 25, 2015.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Michael Strickland officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Creek Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be at the church on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
Carrie was born June 12, 1916, in Amissville, Virginia, the daughter of Charles and Pearl Kendall McDaniel. She attended school in Alexandria.
She and William Claude Hood were united in marriage on September 3, 1937, in Ellicott City, Maryland. Mr. Hood preceded her in death on April 22, 1987.
Carrie was a member of First Baptist Church. A stay at home Mom, Carrie enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing for her children and playing the harmonica. After her husband's retirement they enjoyed traveling around the country.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudia J. Taylor, Topeka, KS and her twin daughters, Carrie Herrman and Michaela Herrman, and great grandchild, Tatum Punches, child of Michaela; and Beorn Courtney, the child of Carrie's deceased son, Gary Hood, and her children Rowynn and Marlowe Laipply.
Carrie was predeceased by her husband William Hood, an infant son at birth, Robert Wayne Hood in 1950, and son, Gary Hood in 1973 and fourteen siblings.
