Beulah Kane

August 22, 1938 — January 27, 2024

Atchison

Beulah B. Kane, a lifelong resident of Atchison, KS, and the best wife, mother and grandmother that her family could have ever wished for, died Saturday, January 27, 2024, at her home at the age of 85.

Beulah's life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. A prayer service will be on Wednesday evening, Jan. 31st at 5:30 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, followed by a time of visitation from 6 – 7:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Benedict Parish to be specified to St. Joseph Church kitchen or the American Legion and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Beulah was born on August 22, 1938, the daughter of Marvin Lance Fitzpatrick and Beulah (Betts) Fitzpatrick. She went to grade school at Trinity Lutheran and graduated from Atchison High School. She began her employment for Blish Mize and spent nearly nine years there before she started her own in-home daycare. She was a homemaker while she cared for numerous children for nearly thirty years before retiring in 1992.

Beulah was a devout member of St. Benedict Parish, attending mass at St. Joseph Church. Her dedication to her parish was shown in countless ways, including helping with rummage sales, serving and arranging church funeral dinners and any task the altar society was needed for, she was there. She volunteered as a driver for the Road to Recovery with the American Cancer Society and enjoyed being a part of the Westar Energy/Kansas Gas retirees club.

Beulah and John Kane were united in marriage on August 26, 1957, at St. Joseph Church. They shared sixty-six years of marriage and were a prime example of true love. Their relationship was a true testament to taking care of each other and doing anything necessary for their family. She loved her family and the endless adventures, dinners, celebrations and parties that they shared over the years, which always ended with family pictures. Beulah found great joy in cooking her grandchildren their favorite foods for the holidays. She kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, word finds and puzzles and really enjoyed to plant and care for her flowers every year. For many years, she concluded her day with logging in her journal, oh the memories that have been recorded!

She will be loved and missed by her family including her husband, John; her children, Richard "Archie" Kane (Betty); Eddie Kane (Cindy); Brian Kane (Tracy); and Rosie Trower (Tim); twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marvin Fitzpatrick and Hadley Fitzpatrick.
