Barbara Taylor-Burgess

Barbara A. Taylor-Burgess, 80 years old, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed from this life on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her home.

Homegoing services will be Monday, January 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church, 1708 5 ^th Ave, Leavenworth, KS 66048. Interment will be Monday, January 31, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Monday January 31st from 10:00 until service time at 11:00 at Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison, KS.

Barbara was born on August 15, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Linville Sherman Wilkinson, Sr and Mildred Maxine Lucas. She graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri and attended Oakwood College for two years in Huntsville, Louisiana.

She married Donald H. Taylor, Sr. on August 6, 1961, at Emanuel SDA Church in St. Joseph, MO. They shared over twenty-five years of marriage before his passing on November 20, 1986. She married Clarence Burgess in April of 2009 and he survives of their home in Leavenworth, KS.

Barbara proudly owned and operated Taylor's Happy Time Daycare out of her home for over forty years. She was a foster parent for numerous years as well.

She was a member of Shiloh SDA Church in Leavenworth.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Clarence Burgess; her daughters, Donna Denise Brown (John), Lori Taylor-Baynham (Durham), Demetria Dawn Taylor-Bedeau (David); her siblings, Linville Sherman Taylor, Jr., Carolyn Curtis (Ronald), Gary Wilkinson, Sr.; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Donald Taylor; and a son, Derrick "Dion" Taylor.
