Alvin Wilson, 65, Atchison, Kansas died Friday April 11, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 14, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Hendon officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wounded Warrior Project or Atchison Salvation Army and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Alvin was born July 22, 1948 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Ray T. and Frances Boyles Wilson. He attended Washington Elementary School, graduating from Atchison High School in 1966.
He and Patricia Kurtz were united in marriage on March 18, 1972 at First Christian Church.
Alvin was employed with Standard Car Wash and Amoco Station in Atchison until 1987. He then became employed with the Department of Army at Ft. Leavenworth serving until his retirement in July of 2007.
Alvin enjoyed working with cars, his Fatboy motorcycle, drag racing his 1968 Camaro, gardening, working in his yard and carpentry. He was a "Chevy" man and considered a great mechanic and was considered a jack of all trades.
Survivors include his wife Pat of the home, a son Craig (Ammie) Wilson, Atchison, KS, a Daughter, Mindy (Ryan) Kolzow, Salina, KS, a brother Kirk Wilson, Lansing, KS, a sister Carol Baker, Atchison, KS, and four grandchildren Andrew Wilson, Melanie Wilson, Jaxon Kolzow, and Brixen Ivy Kolzow and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Steve Wilson and a nephew Matt Wilson.
