Alta Irene Cushinberry 58 years old, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at the University of Kansas medical center surrounded by her loved ones.
Homegoing services will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home to assist with burial expenses.
Alta was born July 19, 1962, the daughter of Ivan Sr. and Laura Cushinberry in Atchison, Kansas. She attended the schools of Martin East and West later graduating from Atchison High School in 1980. Alta attended Oakwood University for a period of time.
Alta could be called the modern-day Renaissance Woman. She worked as a Secretary of the State for several years. She also spent a short period of time at USA800, Rockwell (later Bradken) and Medicalodge, before settling down to take care of family.
Alta enjoyed cooking and watching her loved ones enjoy her food. She also loved to watch Food Network which inspired many of her dishes. Alta loved to play games such as dominoes, spades, etc., but don't be surprised if she won every time. Alta had a smile that could "light up your life" as her brother would always tell her.
Alta was a lifelong member of the Cornerstone Seventh Day Adventist Church. Alta believed in being real and loving each other genuinely and continuously often quoting "You don't have to always like me, just as long as you love me."
Survivors include two sons, Leston M. Cushinberry, Leighton D. Cushinberry, two daughters Laura D. Cushinberry (Colesia Jenkins), Laurene M. Cushinberry; a brother, Ivan L. Cushinberry, Jr.; a husband, Nathaniel Seymore; two nephews, four nieces, eight great-nephews, and six great-nieces, all of Atchison, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons
